So these two guys, the space druids. I’m trying to incorporate Native American clothing and other characteristics into their design. The second guy, the one with the slicked back hair. He has a name, I swear I just uuhh… Originally I was going to put him in a headdress but changed my mind because that would be annoying to draw. I also don’t want to pull something directly out of existing Native clothing but also I’m lazy and it would be difficult to draw again and again. So I gave him those things on the side of his head. He’s slightly more important than the other guy but we’ll find out about that later.
Busy week! I’ve hardly been home! I need to take out my trash and vacuum and just y’know make this place livable.
Apparently last night I was sleep walking. I jumped out of bed, circled the house before stomping back into bed. Angry about something! Jumped back up! Circled the house again before storming into the bedroom and demanding the location of the bathroom. In which my boyfriend responds asking what the hell is wrong with me which caused me to snap out of my daze and confusingly walk to the bathroom and do what I need to do.In any case,
I’ve been working on and off on the next chapter of Tribal Century. I still have another 30 pages left for this chapter but it’s never too late to start planning now!

Trying to come up with some designs for robotic space fish motorcycles. Originally had in mind that they would be just fish with engines or something attached but they ended up becoming completely mechanical.
I want to stick with the idea of using sea creatures as the basis for the starship designs in Tribal Century. I did some sketches for a Kraken warship but realized it might end up being too similar to the Reapers of Mass Effect. I definitely want to do something with a horrible space Kraken that eats starships though.
I do like candle head guy in the third photo, I might draw up something using that hair design. We’ll see!
I have also been playing with the design of a shape shifting alien character but that’s all spread out over several post it notes that I will have to locate.

Ah ha! So now we have two new characters! I forgot what they had looked like and realized I didn’t really come up with any clothing designs for them. Hence the sorta vague clothing in the third panel. I’ll have it figured out for next week’s page, bwahaha! I swear I know what I’m doing!
Okay so now what? Oh so I worked 27+ hours straight Tuesday through Wednesday. Involved a lot of crying over my laptop, calling my developer, more crying annd watching all the cut scenes from Injustice: Gods Among Us on YouTube sometime in the wee hours of the morning. I’m not a big DC fan and by DC I mean Superman. I did watch a lot of Justice Friends and Justice League but Superman is a character I just can’t get into, he’s so overpowered! I also don’t really like stories with time travel and alternate dimensions and weird time line stuff but Injustice it wasn’t so bad. Evil Superman is pretty rad so maybe I’ll look into stories that involve an evil Superman because he makes for a better villain.
Oh yeah free comic book day! Yeah so I started the day late and by the time I arrived to the comic book stores the selections were a bit slim. Fortunately Xanadu a comic shop around the corner from me started putting out extra strip issues and so I napped something. I don’t know, I haven’t read it but its got some cool looking shiny blue guy in it. Neat! As with the previous free comic book days I usually also end up buying something anyway, this year I got Cursed Pirate Girl. Holy crap this is the coolest book ever and I sat around last night going over each and every page for all the tiny little details. OMFG it’s so gorgeous and I could get lost in each page. I want to make something like that but I have a hard enough time drawing each Tribal Century page. Perhaps if I stopped waiting until Sunday to cram a page out bwahaha.
Anyway, on my adventure for free comics I found a shady looking Izakaya place so maybe next week I’ll go and check it out! I really want to eat Japanese bar food and drink Shochu! :>

I checked out the Game of Thrones event at the EMP last Friday, sat in the swag throne yelling YOLO SWAG 420. The women handing props asked what I wanted and when I said to her I wanted everything so I can be all YOLO! The whole line started laughing, so the photo is me awkwardly trying not to laugh while holding all this Game of Thrones crap. The whole exibit is nice though, a lot of cool props and swag from other fantasy movies and shows. Dark Crystal, Pan’s Labyrinth, uhh Labyrinth annnd oh! They had David Bowie’s costume and stuffed the mannequin’s crotch.
Time to jump into bed and play DS hoping a good night of sleep will shake off this cold :<
Ah! I’m a day late!!
Last week flew right on by. I had plenty of time on Sunday planned for my update but unfortunately realized that I forgot my credit card at the bar I was at on Saturday night! So after getting my card back I hung out with Jer since the bar is right near his home. I got the inking done but didn’t get home until pretty late and had to be up early today. My company moved to a new location, so a bit of a crazy morning getting up way earlier that I should have since I was paranoid about missing my new vanpool. Yet that all worked out but shoot! I am tired!
It’s the 13th page, maybe bad luck is the reason why I wasn’t able to make my Sunday update? It’s a spooky curse!
Well, only an hour left in the day but I still manage to make my Sunday update. The day was just so nice that I spent it frolicking in the sun! Grabbed some authentic Cantonese congee breakfast, walked off the food around the International District. Tried to find a new DS game at Pink Gorilla. Looked at anime and manga crap at Kinokuniya and then watched Jurassic Park in 3D at the IMAX theater. I probably should have worked on this page yesterday but Saturday flew by and the next thing I knew I went from drinking at a beach side bar to a impromptu road trip to Portland. Yet we turned around before we made it to Auburn.
I bought the first volume of Mobile Suit Gundam, should arrive on Tuesday! :D I saw it at Kinokuniya but it’s half off online, so I’m excited to read that! I’m finishing up Fullmetal Alchemist though, hopefully by the end of the week I’ll be through with the series. I own the complete collection but I’ve always bought the books when I found them on sale at Half Price or some where else. Problem is I’d buy volumes ahead of what I had and then waited until I could fill the gaps with more that are on sale. Either way, by the time I got the missing volume I forgot what was going on, who was who and the whole point of the story and had to start over. So now that I have the complete collection, I’ll sit down and reread the whole thing from beginning to end.
This week is a short week, hopefully I’ll have some time on Friday to do some drawing. Try and do a two page update next week!
I work one of those office jobs rolling my face on a keyboard all day. Fortunately I have an endless supply of sticky notes and various pens to play with. So to keep my sanity I doodle all day all the time well, not all the time. I do have my keyboard face rolling but in between the face rolling I doodle.
We’re moving offices right now so I went through the pile of sticky notes I toss behind my monitors and pulled out the ones that I like. Mostly face drawings though, I should try doing less faces and more poses or something like that.

Was also tossing around some ideas for doing a group picture of M and Yorick. And for whatever reason I made M into a Viking warrior.
Tribal Century character sketches. I debated if I should post character sketches before introducing the characters in the comic but ahhh screw it.
Initially I had planned to give the character some nice official looking headgear but decided to ditch that to make him a bit more simple looking (because lazy). However I didn’t think it would have worked well with that character’s concept anyway. Perhaps another time.
I wanted to push and do another two page update but got hit with a bad cold this week. Went into work when I really should have stayed home! I always manage to do that though. Got up in the morning thinking, “Oh it’s not that bad!!” and then come into the office with everyone telling me to go home I have a fever.
Wrote my first sound effect, I like hand drawn sound effects better but here I could have probably just used standard text from my computer I suppose. The cool stuff is what you see in action scenes! I like when an artist draws the text right with the action. I tried doing some blending and fun things like that with the shading this time around, I didn’t bring the file over to Painter and stuck strictly with photoshop. I know you can do all the cool things Corel does in Photoshop so I want to learn how to do those neat things. It’s just still a bit weird to me, I was trained to use Photoshop as an image editor and not as a coloring tool.
Anyway, this page is introducing M’s boss or ‘Captain’. Tried to make her come off as scary and intimidating.
I had a hard time remembering the dialogue on page 9, so I may do some sneaky edits on that. I have been doing a pretty bad job with writing out a proper script and it also doesn’t help that page 9 was put together after I finalized my draft. Page 10 was easy since there isn’t any dialogue ha!
Sakuracon this weekend but I didn’t go haaaa. Well, I sorta did. My buddy let me borrow their badge for Friday afternoon and I did a quick run through of the con. Honestly not much this year so it was pretty disappointing. So I understand why most my friends about halfway through the day end up doing something else around Seattle. Also it could be because we’re turning into old people, can’t even recognize half the things people cosplay as. I just don’t watch anime anymore so I don’t know what’s cool these days. KIDS THESE DAYS AND THEIR ANIMES! Back in my day all we had was Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z! ….and even before that it was Saturday Japanimation on SciFi channel! Wah wah wah!

The alien guy in the bottom photo looks like the bastard love child of Klaus Nomi and a six eyed frog alien?
